WNYDA Art Competition

Western New York Dressage Association (WNYDA) holds an art competition every spring where they award different levels of prizes to those who enter. Only WNYDA members are able to enter, and they are split between juniors and adults based on age group. Some of the only rules to enter are that the artwork is original, and it must be equine related.

Entries that are chosen are awarded bronze, silver, and gold awards with varying cash prizes to go towards their equestrian education.

This year (and last), I won a gold award for my colored pencil piece "Winning Round"! I drew this piece based off of a photo I had taken of my past roommate at a horse show at Houghton University. The prize at the gold level is $150, and you have to specify how you plan to use this money towards furthering your equine education. I had decided I would invest the money I had won in some dressage lessons with USDF Silver medalist, Larissa Ries.

Thank you WNYDA for the opportunity to enter this competition, and for the prize money. I look forward to entering my first round as an "adult" in March 2024.
